Bizarrely, even though we see the world in colour, when an image is more abstract in nature it actually gains from having the colour removed – leaving the viewer to concentrate on the shapes, texture and angles.
Here, a group of fishermen were on the quayside but the colour version seems to concentrate the eye on the quay wall. Taking away the colour gives far more prominence to the cloud formation and the angles and shapes of the fishermen and their rods.
